Soque River Fly Fishing

The Soque River is home to some of the largest trout in Appalachia! It stretches for 30 miles of spring-fed, freestone river, and we fish a 1-mile private section. This stretch is loaded with deep holes and is filled with giant browns and rainbows.  Our trips are unique because your booking gives you and you access for the day.  We don’t share the river with any other outfitters.  Most other fishing properties on the Soque will book 3-4 parties per day on their section of water.  A day with Tie One On assures that every hole you fish has not been fished or disturbed.

These trips are wade fishing only, and we typically cast streamers with 6wt rods along steep banks in crystal-clear water. These are trophy trips, with the average brown or rainbow around 18 inches. It’s not uncommon for us to catch fish exceeding 25 inches.

These trips are water temperature-dependent and are typically offered from mid-October to the end of May.

Price is $600 for single and $800 for two fishermen.

Target Species

From mid-October to the end of May, we target trophy brown trout and rainbow trout in the Soque River, typically fishing nymphs and streamers across deepest holes in the river.  In the late spring, we are able to fish dry dropper and double dries successfully.   All hooks are barbless.

Where We Fish

We fish within a 1-mile private section of the river, which will be exclusive to your group for the day. This stretch is filled with deep holes and boasts giant browns and rainbows.
