Tie One On
Chattahoochee River & North Georgia Fly Fishing Guides

Guides

Chris

Chris has spent the last 25 years pursuing his passion for fly fishing in some of the most incredible destinations in the US, Canada, and South America.   He has been fortunate enough to learn the finer nuances of fly fishing from some of the best guides and captains.  These professional guides passed along decades of their knowledge that cannot be acquired by reading alone.  With the burning desire to learn more and a love for the outdoors, he has spent over 100 days per year floating and wading every section of his home waters, the Chattahoochee River.  In March of 2018, he opened Tie One On and began sharing his enthusiasm and love for the sport by guiding.

He enjoys the comradery that is formed when a guide and client work together in pursuit of a fish.  He thrives on making the team successful and enjoying the amazing resources that the Hooch offers.  He loves seeing the excitement when a client realizes a fish has just taken a swipe at their fly and they have successfully set the hook on one of most colorful fish on the planet.  He loves the unique feeling of silently gliding into a pool in the comfort of a driftboat with expectant fisher people looking for the perfect line of current to unleash their flies in just the right spot and to see a flash under water of a trout inhaling their fly.  The feeling of bending a 9-foot fly rod, setting the hook, managing the fly line, stretching out of the boat to net the trout, and observing the amazing fish is awesome.  A quick picture and successful release followed by a brief celebration is about as good as it gets.

Chris fishes year-round but also enjoys snow skiing.  He has an MBA in International Business and BBA in Finance.  He also is fortunate to have a wife who also loves the outdoors and fly fishing.  They have a son and daughter who both recently graduate from college and are now working full time.

Kyle

Kyle has a passion for fly fishing and guiding that's undeniable. He counts himself as a lucky guy to call the Chattahoochee is home water and share it with clients, friends, & family as much as he can. He grew up on Lake Sinclair, cane pole fishing with his grandpa for catfish & pan fish. Once he picked up a fly rod and stood knee deep in moving water, he knew it'd be a life-long obsession.

Kyle is fired up to chase all sorts of fish, including Bows, Browns, Brookies, Striped Bass, Carp, & Shoal Bass. Whether it's the Hooch, hiking into blue lines, towing the boat to NC & TN,  heading out west, or planning for Alaska, he's got fishing and helping others to catch fish on his mind. He takes much pride in helping beginners get their first fish on the fly, and he's always game to take seasoned anglers out to hunt for trophies.

When Kyle isn't taking clients out, you can likely still find him on the Hooch with his fishing pup, his wife or some buddies, and an 8wt tossing streamers for big, wild Browns.

James

James Dudley grew up in the small town of Harlem, GA. At an early age, he developed a passion for fishing and the outdoors. He moved to Atlanta to pursue a career in the golf industry. With easy access to the Chattahoochee River, he quickly became an avid fly fisherman spending much of his time off on the river. James has been guiding on the Chattahoochee for over a decade and joined the Tie One On in 2023. James has spent many years guiding in the mountains of Georgia and North Carolina as well. He has vast experience guiding trophy trips on the Soque River. He really loves fishing the Nantahala and Tuckaseegee Rivers in NC. James guides float trips from a 15ft Stealthcraft drift boat which offers clients a safe and comfortable day on the water. He enjoys working with anglers of any age and skill level.
